– (PL) Madame la Présidente, il est un fait historique que les pères fondateurs de l’Union européenne (Konrad Adenauer, Alcide De Gasperi, Robert Schuman et Jean Monnet) étaient des démocrates-chrétiens et qu’ils ont fondé leur œuvre sur des valeurs et des symboles chrétiens. Je vous rappelle d’ailleurs que le drapeau adopté par l’Union européenne, 12 étoiles dorées en cercle sur fond bleu, et qui est accroché derrière vous, Madame la Présidente, fait référence aux 12 étoiles au-dessus de la tête de la Sainte-Vierge (révélation de Saint-Jean, chapitre 12).

Motion in Support of Declaring Ottawa Officially Bilingual Adopted Hon. Jean-Robert Gauthier, pursuant to notice of December 15, 1999, moved:
L'honorable Jean-Robert Gauthier, conformément à l'avis du 15 décembre 1999, propose:

The only solution is to adopt the Community method advocated by the founding fathers of the European Union – Jean Monnet, Robert Schuman, Konrad Adenauer, Alcide de Gasperi, Paul Henri Spaak, and many others.
L’unique solution reste d’adopter la méthode communautaire prêchée par les pères fondateurs de l’Union européenne - Jean Monnet, Robert Schuman, Konrad Adenauer, Alcide de Gasperi, Paul Henri Spaak et bien d’autres encore.

2. The Robert Schuman project shall complement action carried out under other Community programmes, in particular the Leonardo da Vinci programme for the implementation of a European Community vocational training policy, the Jean Monnet project to promote teaching on European integration at university level and the Grotius programme of incentives and exchanges for legal practitioners (joint action adopted on the basis of Article K.3 of the Treaty on European Union).
2. L'action Robert-Schuman complète l'action développée dans le cadre d'autres programmes, notamment le programme Leonardo da Vinci pour la mise en oeuvre d'une politique de formation professionnelle de la Communauté, l'action Jean-Monnet pour le développement des enseignements sur l'intégration européenne dans l'université ou encore le programme Grotius - action commune fondée sur l'article K.3 du traité sur l'Union européenne - d'encouragement et d'échanges destiné aux praticiens de la justice.
