The proposed reduction of the intervention price for rice by 50% will narrow the gap between EU prices and world prices and thereby further liberalise the EU rice market, but it would be advisable to set direct payments at a level that would compensate producers fully for the reduction in institutional prices, thus keeping the price and market guarantee and, therefore, the profitability of growing, unchanged.
La réduction de 50% proposée quant au prix d'intervention pour le riz réduira le fossé entre les prix de l'UE et les prix mondiaux, ce qui permettra de poursuivre la libéralisation du marché du riz de l'UE. Il conviendrait toutefois de fixer les paiements directs aux producteurs à un niveau permettant de compenser totalement la réduction du prix d'intervention, de manière à maintenir intactes les garanties concernant les prix et le marché et, de ce fait, à n'influencer en rien la rentabilité de la culture du riz.
