During the personal interviews of the four Members whose mandate is up for renewal, the most important topic was their opinion on the self-assessment process embarked upon by the Court of Auditors, which is due to terminate at the end of 2008, as well as the contribution of each candidate to the current debate about the need to reform the way in which the Court is organised, especially since enlargement, given that it currently has a Board of 27 members, and also with a view to enhancing its effectiveness and modernisation.
Lors des auditions des quatre membres qui se présentent pour le renouvellement de leur mandat, les points les plus importants concernaient leur avis sur le processus d'autoévaluation lancé par la Cour des comptes, qui doit s'achever fin 2008, ainsi que la contribution de chaque candidat à la réflexion actuelle sur la nécessité de réformer l'organisation de la Cour, surtout depuis l'élargissement, qui a porté à 27 le nombre de membres de son collège, mais aussi dans l'esprit d'améliorer son efficacité et d'impulser sa modernisation.

6. Irrespective of Article 20 (1), Member States, when deciding on the application for asylum, may take into account the fact that the applicant failed to appear for the personal interview, unless he or she had good reasons for the failure to appear, or the interview failed to materialise or was terminated due to the applicant's psychological and/or medical state.
