(9a) The prohibition of the use of oestradiol 17ß in veterinary medicinal products and for oestrus induction in livestock will contribute to a reduction in the oestrogen content of the waste produced by such animals, which, in view of the growing contamination of surface water with pharmaceutical products, including oestrogens, is a significant step towards improving the state of the environment within the Community.
(9 bis) L'interdiction de l'utilisation de l’œstradiol 17 ß à des fins de traitement vétérinaire et d'induction de l'œstrus chez les animaux d'élevage contribuera à limiter la teneur en œstrogène des effluents issus de ces animaux, ce qui, compte tenu de la pollution croissante des eaux de surface par des produits pharmaceutiques, et notamment par les œstrogènes, constitue une mesure importante en faveur de la qualité de l'environnement au sein de la Communauté.
