– (PT) I welcome the agreement reached on the joint text approved by the Conciliation Committee for a regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council concerning statistics on pesticides which will allow for the creation of a legal framework and the establishment of harmonised rules for the collection and dissemination of statistics on the sale and use of pesticides, with a view to the sustainable use of the latter.
– (PT) Je me félicite qu’un accord ait pu être trouvé sur le texte approuvé par le comité de conciliation pour un règlement du Parlement européen et du Conseil sur les statistiques relatives aux pesticides. Ce règlement permettra la création d’un cadre légal et la définition de règles harmonisées pour la collecte et la diffusion de statistiques sur la vente et l’utilisation de pesticides, en vue de parvenir à une utilisation durable de ces derniers.

I therefore consider the joint text of the regulation of the European Parliament and the Council concerning statistics on pesticides, which has been approved by the Conciliation Committee, as an appropriate measure which, in the final analysis, will contribute to the sustainable use of pesticides and a huge overall reduction in the risks to health and the environment, as well as adequate protection for crops.
C’est pourquoi je considère que le texte du règlement du Parlement européen et du Conseil relatif aux statistiques sur les pesticides, qui a été approuvé par le comité de conciliation, constitue une mesure appropriée qui permettra, lors de l’analyse finale, de favoriser une utilisation durable des pesticides et une réduction significative des risques pour la santé et l’environnement, tout en garantissant une protection appropriée des cultures.

It is in the compromise that we have adopted in the Committee on the Environment: we will say no to the mutual obligatory approval of pesticides, but yes to the mutual obligatory approval of data.
