(8) Where an insured person is on leave of absence for a continuous period of one week or more and not in receipt of earnings from his employer in respect of the said period, the aggregate amount of the maximum weekly insurable earnings for each week in such period (hereinafter referred to as " the excluded amount" ) shall be deducted from the maximum yearly insurable earnings and his insurable earnings for his period of the employment in a year shall not exceed the amount by which the maximum yearly insurable earnings exceed the excluded amount.

For the purposes of applying the provisions of Articles 6, 51 and 61, for any period commencing on or after 6 October 1980, a week of insurance under the legislation of the Republic of Cyprus is determined by dividing the total insurable earnings for the relevant period by the weekly amount of the basic insurable earnings applicable in the relevant contribution year, provided that the number of weeks so determined shall not exceed the number of calendar weeks in the relevant period.

" (2.1) In calculating a claimant's weekly insurable earnings under subsection (2), weeks with less than 15 hours of insurable earnings and the insurable earnings attributable to those weeks shall be excluded, but no week shall be excluded where the exclusion would reduce the divisor determined in accordance with paragraph (2)(a) to a number less than the divisor determined in accordance with paragraph (2)(b).
