Firstly, in my opinion, we need to be very sparing in our calls for European legislation, in our calls for the Commission to impose some sort of constraints on a market – the merging telecommunications and media markets – which, we must not forget, has to be able to withstand the challenges of the international markets inasmuch as European undertakings have to be able to withstand the challenges of the international markets.
La première, c'est qu'à mon avis il faut être très prudent lorsqu'on demande des réglementations européennes, lorsqu'on réclame des interventions de la Commission qui pourraient gêner un marché - celui des médias et des télécommunications qui fusionnent - qui, ne l'oublions pas, devra faire face aux défis des marchés internationaux, dans la mesure où les entreprises européennes devront affronter les défis des marchés internationaux.
