The Internal Market Information System (‘IMI’) is a software application accessible via the internet, developed by the Commission in cooperation with the Member States, in order to assist Member States with the practical implementation of information exchange requirements laid down in Union acts by providing a centralised communication mechanism to facilitate cross-border exchange of information and mutual assistance.
Le système d'information du marché intérieur (ci-après dénommé «IMI») est une application logicielle accessible via l'internet, développée par la Commission en coopération avec les États membres afin d'aider ceux-ci à mettre en pratique les exigences relatives aux échanges d'informations fixées dans des actes de l'Union, en proposant un mécanisme de communication centralisé qui facilite les échanges transfrontaliers d'informations et l'assistance mutuelle.

In his Opinion, issued today, the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) provides a series of recommendations to further strengthen the data protection framework for the Internal Market Information System ('IMI').
