For the purposes of paragraph 1, “international auditing standards” means International Standards on Auditing (ISAs), International Standard on Quality Control (ISQC 1) and other related Standards issued by the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) through the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB), in so far as they are relevant to the statutory audit.

Welcomes the fact that, in June 2011, a firm of external assessors certified that the Internal Audit Service of the Parliament complies with the definition of Internal Auditing, with the Code of Ethics and with the Standards and that this represents the highest level of compliance; encourages the Internal Audit Service to build on the good foundation already in place and align the Internal Audit Service further with leading practices; acknowledges that during the second half of 2011, the Internal Audit Service already implemented several important elements of the suggestions for improvement received and that the remaining action plan will be executed over the period through to the end of 2012;
