In line with the EU and China's UN and G20 responsibilities, the EU and China should promote global public goods, sustainable development, and international security, and advance respect for the rule of law and human rights within China and internationally.

The EU and China are engaged in a human rights dialogue, which aims at improving the human rights situation by encouraging China to respect and promote human rights and fundamental freedoms and to co-operate with international human rights mechanisms.
