A. whereas every year, 500 000 greyhounds take part in traditional hare coursing in Spain; of these, about 60 000 are killed at the end of the hunting season; whereas, from the moment they are born, the dogs are subjected to inhumane training methods and constant ill-treatment and live in crowded conditions in holes dug out of the ground and covered with tin sheeting; whereas, when a dog reaches a certain age, loses its agility or can no longer have pups, it is starved to death, abandoned with its legs broken, or killed;
A. considérant qu'en Espagne chaque année 500 000 lévriers participent à la traditionnelle chasse au lièvre; qu'environ 60 000 d'entre eux seront tués une fois la saison de chasse terminée; que dès leur naissance ces animaux subissent des entraînements inhumains et des mauvais traitements perpétuels et vivent entassés dans des trous creusés à même le sol et recouverts de tôles; que lorsque le chien atteint un certain âge, perd son agilité ou sa capacité à donner naissance à des chiots, il est affamé, abandonné avec les pattes brisées ou abattu;
