The women I interviewed are concerned that if Taliban or insurgent leaders are granted full positions in the government, for example, they may seek to overhaul the constitution through a constitutional lawyer jirga and scrap the clause in the constitution that stipulates gender equality, something Afghan women's organizations fought hard for when the constitution was being drafted.
Les femmes que j'ai interviewées craignent par exemple que, si on offre à des talibans ou à des chefs de groupes d'insurgés un poste en bonne et due forme au gouvernement, ils pourraient chercher à renverser la constitution, grâce à une jirga composée d'avocats en droit constitutionnel et à éliminer de la constitution la disposition prévoyant l'égalité des sexes, pour laquelle les organismes de femmes afghanes se sont âprement battus pendant la rédaction de la constitution.
