As regards the role of the European Parliament, I would reiterate our proposal: the Conference president must report to Parliament on a monthly basis, and, in my view, Mr President, it would be extremely sensible to invite all the members of the Convention and the representatives of the national parliaments to attend meetings of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs, in order to ensure that, although the work of the Convention is now over, the spirit of the Convention and a more transparent working method can go hand in hand at the Intergovernmental Conference and a Constitution for all Europeans can be achieved.

Are these reports correct? How much financial support is the Commission providing? Who exactly will be invited to attend? What is the aim of the conference? Is this initiative a follow-up to the proposal put forward by the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, Christodoulos, on 9 October at a public press conference in Athens at which he explained how useful such a conference would be?
Celle-ci pourrait-elle dire si la chose est exacte, quelle est l'importance de son aide financière, qui seront invités, quel est le but de cette conférence et si c'est là le prolongement d'une proposition faite le 9 octobre par M Christodoulos, archevêque d'Athènes et de Grèce, lors d'une rencontre informelle avec la presse, qui eut lieu à Athènes et au cours de laquelle il illustra l'utilité d'une pareille conférence ?
