The Commission has approved humanitarian aid worth ECU 275 000 to enable the mobile hospital in the Banja Luka region of Bosnia- Herzegovina to continue to operate up to the end of March.

The hospital, which opened in July 1993, was financed by ECU 2 million in humanitarian aid from ECHO, the European Community Humanitarian Office. It not only provides urgent medical treatment for the isolated inhabitants of Banja Luka; it also carries out common surgical and orthopaedic operations and has post-operative care facilities.
