In that resolution, Parliament adopted a number of amendments to the Commission proposal, the purpose of which was to remedy the fact that the decision did not go far enough in areas such as identifying the statistics needed in order to enable the major changes affecting the CAP to be accommodated, the voluntary nature of participation by the Member States, the need for Eurostat, the Standing Committee on Agricultural Statistics and the Statistical Programme Committee to cooperate more extensively with the Commission and the statistical processing of information relating to EAGGF Guarantee Section payments.

The purpose of the Decision was to provide the Commission with a flexible tool which would enable statistics applications to be adapted to changing information requirements, to which end certain expenditure by the Member States would be subsidised so as to enable the latter to take appropriate action in order to adapt their national agricultural statistics systems in certain areas.

Therefore, I request a specific commitment by the Commission that it will define each year, amongst the priority plans for technical action proposed to it by the Standing Committee on Agricultural Statistics, the things requested in our Amendments Nos 4 and 5, since otherwise, the codecision procedure would be delayed and it would become more difficult for the Member States to draw up their statistical reports.
Par conséquent, je demande à la Commission qu'elle s'engage explicitement à définir chaque année, dans le cadre des plans d'action techniques prioritaires qui lui sont proposés par le comité permanent de la statistique agricole, les points désignés dans les amendements 4 et 5, à défaut de quoi le processus de codécision se verrait allongé, ce qui rendrait difficile l'élaboration des rapports statistiques pour les États membres.
