In een andere studie met niertransplantatiepatiënten van 20 jaar of jonger die was bedoeld om de veiligheid van progressieve afbouw van corticosteroïden (te beginnen zes maanden na transplantatie) uit een immunosuppressieve behandeling die bij de transplantatie werd geïnitieerd en bestond uit een volledige immunosuppressieve dosis met zowel Rapamune als een calcineurineremmer in combinatie met basiliximab-inductie te bepalen, werd bij 19 (6,9%) van de 274 geïncludeerde patiënten ontwikkeling van post-transplantatie lymfoproliferatie-aandoening (PTLD) gemeld.
