TRADUCTIONS EN CONTEXTE

In het "Verslag van de vijf voorzitters" wordt een ambitieus maar pragmatisch stappenplan voor de voltooiing van de EMU voorgesteld door parallel vooruitgang te boeken op vier fronten: Ten eerste in de richting van een echte economische unie die waarborgt dat iedere economie de structurele kenmerken bezit om in de monetaire unie te kunnen gedijen.
The "Five Presidents' Report" proposes an ambitious yet pragmatic roadmap for completing EMU by making progress on four fronts in parallel: Firstly, towards a genuine Economic Union that ensures each economy has the structural features to prosper within the Monetary Union.

2. Voor elke Staat of douane- of economische unie die dit Verdrag ondertekent zonder voorbehoud van bekrachtiging, het bekrachtigt of ertoe toetreedt nadat het in het eerste lid van dit artikel aangegeven minimumaantal is bereikt, treedt dit Verdrag in werking op de eerste januari die valt in een tijdvak van ten minste twaalf en ten hoogste vierentwintig maanden, volgende op de datum waarop deze Staat of douane- of economische unie het Verdrag heeft ondertekend zonder voorbehoud van bekrachtiging of zijn of haar akte van bekrachtiging of toetreding heeft nedergelegd, tenzij deze een eerdere datum heeft opgegeven.
2. For any State or Customs or Economic Union signing without reservation of ratification, ratifying or acceding to this Convention after the minimum number specified in paragraph 1 of this Article is reached, this Convention shall enter into force on 1 January which falls at least 12 months but not more than 24 months after it has signed the Convention without reservation of ratification or has deposited its instrument of ratification or accession, unless it specifies an earlier date.

De heer Flynn eindigde met te zeggen dat hij er zelf in zijn hart van overtuigd is "dat er zonder een sociale unie geen economische unie, geen monetaire unie en zeker geen politieke unie komt".
Mr Flynn concluded by saying that it is his profound personal conviction "that there will be no economic union, no monetary union and certainly no political union unless there is a social union".
