Mr. Speaker, to begin, I would like to say that I will be sharing my time with my hon. colleague, the member for Victoria.

J'aimerais parler aux députés de quelques-uns de nos nombreux héros, plus de deux millions et demi de Canadiens, qui ont revêtu l'uniforme du Canada: des gens comme William Hall, un Néo-Écossais d'origine africaine qui a reçu la Croix de Victoria à Lucknow, en Inde; John MacRae, qui a servi durant la Guerre des Boers et la Première Guerre mondiale et qui nous a légué le célèbre poème Au champ d'honneur; Smokey Smith de la Colombie-Britannique, qui a combattu avec bravoure en Italie et a reçu la Croix de Victoria; et Tommy Prince, un courageux Autochtone des Premières Nations qui a combattu avec la Devil's Brigade durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale.
I would like to share with members some of the names of so many of our heroes, over two and a half million Canadians, who donned the uniform of Canada: people like William Hall, an African Nova Scotian who received the Victoria Cross in Lucknow, India; John MacRae who served in the Boer War and in World War I and who gave us that famous poem In Flanders Fields; Smokey Smith from British Columbia who fought bravely in Italy and earned the Victoria Cross; and Tommy Prince, a brave first nations aboriginal with the Devil's Brigade in World War II. We must not forget that the first nations people in Canada were exempt from going to war but they went anyway to serve their country.

Monsieur le Président, j'aimerais féliciter les membres de l'organisme Faith in Action de Victoria pour avoir organisé l'une des 80 manifestations silencieuses qui ont eu lieu en Colombie-Britannique, samedi dernier, afin de sensibiliser les gens à l'itinérance et au manque de logements dans notre pays.
Mr. Speaker, I want to congratulate members of Faith in Action in Victoria for organizing one of 80 silent protests throughout B.C. last Saturday to raise awareness about the crisis of homelessness and inadequate housing in our country.
