Encouraging the exchange of experience on the carrying out of statistical surveys and assessments, in particular the exchange of experience on the implementation of longitudinal studies and the promotion of common development work in this field; use of the "TES" (Training of European Statisticians) programmes for technical training and further training in education and training statistics, and the "ARION" programme for study visits in this field.

DOSES prévoit une invervention communautaire de 4 millions Ecus pour 4 ans pour - encourager des consultations régulières entre les différents milieux intéressés (instituts statistiques nationaux, institutions universitaires, l'industrie et la Communauté). Elles permettront de commenter, adapter, coordonner, et évaluer les travaux entrepris dans la discipline en vue d'optimaliser leur rendement; - lancer ou soutenir dans la Communauté des projets multinationaux de recherche et de développement dans des domaines prometteurs tels que la documentation des données et des méthodes statistiques, l'accèsà l'information statistique et l'établissement de prévisions; - apporter un support logistique pour la sélection et le suivi de certains projets d'intérêt commun ainsi que pour la diffusion des résultats acquis.
DOSES provide for a Community contribution of 4 million ECU over a period of four years to : - promote regular consultations between the various parties concerned (national statistics institutes, universities, industry and the Community), which will make it possible to discuss, adapt, co-ordinate and evaluate the work undertaken in the field in order to optimize performance, - launch or support multinational research and development projects within the Community in promising fields such as documentation on statistical data and methods, access to statistical information and forecasting, - provide logistic support for the selection and follow-up of certain projects of common interest and for the dissemination of the results obtained.
