Il convient de lire la présente section parallèlement au document de travail des services de la Commission intitulé "L'enseignement supérieur européen dans une perspective mondiale" , qui la complète en présentant, expliquant et analysant des données et indicateurs statistiques additionnels (notamment dans sa Section III et dans l’annexe statistique, tables 3, 4, 5 et 8).
This section should be read together with the Commission staff working paper “European Higher Education in a worldwide perspective ” which complements it by providing, explaining and analysing additional statistical data and indicators (mainly in its Section III and the Statistical Annex, tables 3, 4, 5 and 8).

The statistics shall cover all economic activities defined in sections B (Mining and quarrying), C (Manufacturing), D (Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply), E (Water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation activities), F (Construction), G (Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles), H (Transportation and storage), I (Accommodation and food service activities), J (Information and communication activities), K (Financial and insurance activities), L (Real estate activities), M (Professional, scientific and technical activities), N (Administrative and support service activities), P (Education), Q (Human health and social work activities), R (Arts, entertainment and recreation activities) and S (Other service activities) of the statistical classification of economic activities in the European Community (NACE Rev. 2)’.

Les travaux des cinq prochaines années porteront donc essentiellement sur la mise en oeuvre des nouveaux règlements du Conseil concernant l'enquête structurelle sur les entreprises et les statistiques conjoncturelles dans le secteur des services, l'élaboration d'un nouvel ensemble de statistiques permettant de compléter l'information existante dans le secteur des communications et des services audiovisuels, la poursuite des travaux sur les statistiques du tourisme et l'établissement de répertoires d'entreprises destinés à être utilisés à des fins statistiques.
The work during the next five years will thus concentrate on implementing the new Council Regulations on structural business surveys and on short-term statistics in the services sector, developing a new set of statistics to complete the existing information in the communications sector and audiovisual services, pursue the work on tourism statistics and on the development of business registers for statistical purposes.
