The United Kingdom is taking part in this [INSTRUMENT], in accordance with Article 5(1) of Protocol No 19 on the Schengen acquis integrated into the framework of the European Union, annexed to the Treaty on European Union and to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, and Article 8(2) of Council Decision 2000/365/EC of 29 May 2000 concerning the request of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to take part in some of the provisions of the Schengen acquis*.

Depuis le 1er mai 2004, l'acquis de Schengen, tel qu'intégré dans le cadre de l'Union européenne par le protocole annexé au traité sur l'Union européenne et au traité instituant la Communauté européenne (ci-après le “protocole Schengen”), et les actes fondés sur l'acquis de Schengen ou qui s'y rapportent lient la République tchèque, la République d'Estonie, la République de Lettonie, la République de Lituanie, la Hongrie, la République de Malte, la République de Pologne, la République de Slovénie et la République slovaque.
From 1 May 2004, the Schengen acquis as integrated into the framework of the European Union by the Protocol annexed to the Treaty on European Union and to the Treaty establishing the European Community (hereinafter referred to as the Schengen Protocol), and the acts building upon it or otherwise related to it are binding on the Czech Republic, the Republic of Estonia, the Republic of Latvia, the Republic of Lithuania, Hungary, the Republic of Malta, the Republic of Poland, the Republic of Slovenia and the Slovak Republic.

Sur la base de l'article 6 du protocole intégrant l'acquis de Schengen dans le cadre de l'Union européenne (protocole Schengen), la Norvège et l'Islande sont aussi associées à la mise en œuvre et au développement de l'acquis de Schengen.
Under Article 6 of the protocol integrating the Schengen acquis into the framework of the European Union (Schengen protocol), Norway and Iceland are also associated with the implementation and further development of the Schengen acquis.

(2) Le présent règlement s'inscrit dans le prolongement de l'acquis de Schengen, conformément au protocole intégrant celui-ci dans le cadre de l'Union européenne, ci-après dénommé "protocole Schengen".
(2) This Regulation follows on from the Schengen acquis in accordance with the Protocol integrating it into the framework of the European Union, hereinafter referred to as the "Schengen Protocol".

(3) Le présent règlement constitue la poursuite du développement des dispositions à l'égard desquelles une coopération renforcée a été autorisée par le protocole Schengen et relève du domaine visé à l'article 1er, point B, de la décision 1999/437/CE du Conseil du 17 mai 1999 relative à certaines modalités d'application de l'accord conclu par le Conseil de l'Union européenne et la République d'Islande et le Royaume de Norvège sur l'association de ces États à la mise en oeuvre, à l'application et au développement de l'acquis de Schengen(4).
(3) This Regulation constitutes the further development of those provisions in respect of which closer cooperation has been authorised under the Schengen Protocol and falls within the area referred to in Article 1, point B, of Decision 1999/437/EC of 17 May 1999 on certain arrangements for the application of the Agreement concluded by the Council of the European Union and the Republic of Iceland and the Kingdom of Norway concerning the association of those two States with the implementation, application and development of the Schengen acquis(4).
