Le programme statistique européen vise à s’assurer que les statistiques européennes sont axées sur les informations nécessaires pour concevoir, mettre en œuvre, suivre et évaluer les politiques de l’Union européenne (UE).
The European statistical programme aims to ensure that European statistics are focused on the information needed to design, implement, monitor and evaluate EU policies.

Stresses that the resources allocated to Eurostat must continuously reflect the expanding workload and the enhanced quality demands in the key field of economic and financial statistics; points out that this aspect is particularly important in the process of making the new economic governance framework work; believes, against this background, that the increase below the rate of inflation as proposed by the Commission for staff expenditure in the 'Statistics' policy area is not big enough; calls on the Commission to clarify, as soon as possible, exactly what appropriations are needed for 2013 in the context of a new and more ambitious Union Statistical Programme (for 2013-2017) replacing the existing one;

Pour assurer la cohérence et la comparabilité des informations statistiques dans la Communauté, il est nécessaire d’établir un programme statistique communautaire quinquennal qui précise les orientations, les principaux domaines et les objectifs des actions envisagées compte tenu des priorités politiques.
In order to ensure the consistency and comparability of statistical information in the Community, there is a need to establish a five-year Community statistical programme which identifies the approaches, the main fields and the objectives of the actions envisaged in respect of the policy priorities.

3.2.1. Développer un système de veille sanitaire viable disposant de mécanismes de collecte de données et d'informations comparables, assortis d'indicateurs pertinents; assurer une coordination et un suivi appropriés des initiatives communautaires concernant les registres sur le cancer, s'appuyant, entre autres, sur les données collectées au moment de la mise en œuvre de la recommandation du Conseil du 2 décembre 2003 sur le dépistage du cancer (1); collecter des données sur la situation et les politiques sanitaires; élaborer l'élément statistique de ce système à l'aide du programme statistique communautaire.
3.2.1. Develop further a sustainable health monitoring system with mechanisms for collection of comparable data and information, with appropriate indicators; ensure appropriate coordination of and follow-up to Community initiatives regarding registries on cancer, based, inter alia, on the data collected when implementing the Council Recommendation of 2 December 2003 on cancer screening (1); collect data on health status and policies; develop, with the Community Statistical Programme, the statistical element of this system.

Dans la préparation des programmes statistiques annuels, la Commission tient compte du rapport coût-efficacité des statistiques produites et assure un réexamen permanent des priorités statistiques, tout en veillant à maintenir la continuité chronologique des statistiques collectées, en vue de l’affectation optimale des ressources disponibles des États membres et de la Commission et de l’allégement maximal de la charge imposée aux répondants.

The Commission shall, in the preparation of the annual statistical work programmes, take account of the cost-effectiveness of the statistics produced and ensure an ongoing review of statistical priorities, with a view to making best use of available resources of the Member States and the Commission and to minimising the burden imposed on respondents, taking due care to ensure the chronological continuity of the data collected.

Calls upon the Commission to take on board the various recommendations of the abovementioned resolution of 15 March 2007 on the islands and natural and economic constraints in the context of regional policy, and in particular to make the setting-up with the Commission of an administrative unit for the islands a priority, so as to develop a long-awaited trans-sectoral approach towards the problems of these territories, as well as to give proper recognition to islands in the EU statistical programme in relation to future maritime policy;

L'utilisation de la nomenclature des activités économiques de la Communauté exige que la Commission soit assistée par le comité du programme statistique institué par la décision 89/382/CEE, Euratom du Conseil (4), notamment pour ce qui concerne l'examen des problèmes liés à la mise en œuvre de la NACE Rév. 2, assurant le passage pleinement coordonné de la NACE Rév. 1 à la NACE Rév. 2 et la préparation des futures modifications à apporter à la NACE Rév. 2.
Use of the classification of economic activities in the Community requires that the Commission be assisted by the Statistical Programme Committee set up by Council Decision 89/382/EEC, Euratom (4) in particular as regards: the examination of problems arising from implementation of NACE Rev. 2; ensuring a fully coordinated transition from NACE Rev. 1 to NACE Rev. 2; and, the preparation of future amendments to NACE Rev. 2.
