[4] For the moment, two possibilities can be envisaged: either a contribution paid by Belgium to the GALILEO Joint Undertaking and equivalent to the amount of the charges paid by the latter, or the application by Belgium of the Protocol on Privileges and Immunities, on the grounds that the Joint Undertaking was set up by a Community Regulation on the basis of Article 171 of the Treaty.

12. note qu'en 2008, des produits d'intérêts à hauteur de 148 370 EUR ont été inscrits au compte de l'entreprise commune; conclut des comptes annuels de l'exercice et de la hauteur des intérêts que l'entreprise commune dispose de façon durable de soldes de trésorerie élevés; note qu'au 31 décembre 2008, les soldes de trésorerie de l'entreprise commune s'élevaient à 116 007 569 EUR; demande à la Commission de vérifier quelles sont les possibilités de mettre en œuvre une gestion des liquidités de l'entreprise commune selon une approche axée sur la demande et quelles sont les modifications conceptuelles nécessaires pour maintenir les soldes de trésorerie de l'entreprise commune de façon durable à un niveau le plus bas possible;

Notes that the Joint Undertaking's accounts for the financial year 2008 show income from interest of EUR 148 370; concludes from the annual closure of accounts and the amount of interest payments that the Joint Undertaking maintains high cash reserves over long periods; notes that as of 31 December 2008 the Joint Undertaking's cash reserves amounted to EUR 116 007 569; calls on the Commission to examine ways of ensuring that the Joint Undertaking implements the principle of needs-based cash management and what changes in approach are needed to ensure that the Joint Undertaking's cash reserves are kept as low as possible on a long-term basis;
