La directive 96/53/CE du Conseil du 25 juillet 1996 fixant, pour certains véhicules routiers circulant dans la Communauté, les dimensions maximales autorisées en trafic national et international et les poids maximaux autorisés en trafic international définit certaines dimensions maximales autorisées en trafic national et international dans les États membres.

D'autres critères et conditions de nature structurelle et générale, se rapportant à l'échange de compétences techniques, aux systèmes d'information et aux outils de santé en ligne, devraient contribuer à l'élaboration, au partage et à la diffusion des connaissances et des informations et, partant, favoriser l'amélioration du diagnostic et du traitement des maladies à la fois à l'intérieur et à l'extérieur du réseau et faciliter une étroite collaboration avec les autres réseaux et centres d'expertise au niveau tant national qu'international. Further horizontal and structural criteria and conditions related to the exchange of expertise, information systems and eHealth tools should help developing, sharing and spreading information and knowledge and fostering improvements in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases within and outside the Networks and to collaborate closely with other centres of expertise and networks at national and international level. Interoperable and semantically compatible information and communication technology (ICT) systems would facilitate the exchange of health data and patients' information, and the establishment and maintenance of shared databases and registries.

Reiterates its support for a UN Convention on the Human Rights of Disabled People, which must build on the provisions of the UN Standard Rules in such a way as to fully recognise and promote the rights of disabled people; calls on the EU Member States to positively support a UN Convention and press for clear language in the UN Convention to ensure equal and effective human rights for disabled people with reference to anti-discrimination and positive action measures; calls for the UN Convention to include effective monitoring and implementation mechanisms at both national and international level, ensuring the active participation of representative disability organisations throughout the process;
