In its Communication on the European Information Exchange Model (EIXM), the Commission sets out a blueprint for better implementation of existing EU instruments, more systematic use of the Europol channel for information exchange, and national Single Points of Contact bringing together the main channels for information exchange[9].

Dans ce contexte, le programme de Stockholm invite également la Commission à évaluer la nécessité de mettre au point un modèle européen en matière d'échange d'informations (EIXM), à partir d'une évaluation des instruments existants dans le domaine des échanges d'informations de l'UE.
In this context, the Stockholm Programme also invites the Commission to assess the need for a European Information Exchange Model (EIXM) based on evaluation of existing instruments in the field of EU information exchange.

Dans le même temps, elle apporte une première réponse aux demandes des États membres de mettre au point une approche plus «cohérente» de l’échange d’informations à caractère personnel à des fins répressives, question qui a récemment été abordée dans la stratégie de gestion de l'information de l’UE[4], et permet de réfléchir à la nécessité éventuelle de concevoir un modèle européen d’échange d’informations fondé sur une évaluation des mesures actuelles régissant l’échange d’informations[5].
At the same time, it provides a first response to calls by Member States to develop a more ‘coherent’ approach to the exchange of personal information for law enforcement purposes, which was recently addressed by the EU Information Management Strategy,[4] and for reflection on the possible need for developing a European Information Exchange Model based on an evaluation of current information exchange measures.[5]

La Commission a l'intention de donner suite à la présente communication en présentant une communication sur le modèle européen d'échange d'informations en 2012[94]. À cette fin, la Commission a lancé, en janvier 2010, un exercice de «cartographie de l'information» en se fondant sur les bases juridiques et le fonctionnement pratique des échanges entre États membres de renseignements et d'informations en matière pénale, exercice dont elle rendra compte au Conseil et au Parlement européen en 2011[95].
The Commission aims to follow up this communication by presenting a communication on the European Information Exchange Model in 2012.[94] To that end, the Commission launched an ‘information mapping’ exercise in January 2010 on the legal bases and practical operation of the exchange between Member States of criminal intelligence and information, the results of which the Commission aims to present to the Council and the European Parliament in 2011.[95]

Le CEPD se félicite de la communication en indiquant qu’il s’agit d’une réponse à la demande du Conseil européen (8) visant à élaborer des instruments de gestion de l'information au niveau de l'UE conformément à une stratégie de gestion de l'information de l’UE et à lancer une réflexion au sujet d’un modèle européen d'échange d'informations.
The EDPS welcomes the Communication as a reply to the call by the European Council (8) for developing EU-level information management instruments in accordance with an EU Information Management Strategy, and for reflecting on a European Information Exchange Model.
