Member States shall authorise the exchange between their competent authorities of the information referred to in paragraph 2, on the understanding that, in the case of financial holding companies, mixed financial holding companies, financial institutions or ancillary services undertakings, the collection or possession of information shall not in any way imply that the competent authorities are required to play a supervisory role in relation to those institutions or undertakings standing alone’.

In order to promote credible financial reporting processes across the European Union, members of the company body that is responsible for the preparation of the company's financial reports should have the duty to ensure that the financial information included in a company's annual accounts and annual reports gives a true and fair view.

7. considère que l'inclusion de ces activités dans le budget général exigera des crédits accrus sous les rubriques correspondantes; rappelle que, selon la déclaration commune sur la programmation financière adoptée le 20 juillet 2000, l'autorité budgétaire doit disposer d'informations précises sur les répercussions financières de toute nouvelle proposition présentée par la Commission; invite la Commission à présenter une évaluation financière des activités post-CECA intégrées progressivement dans le budget général, vu qu'elles peuvent avoir un impact sur la marge restant disponible sous le plafond de chacune des rubriques des perspectives financières; souligne la nécessité de consulter à nouveau l'autorité budgétaire si des modifications importantes devaient être apportées au cours du renouvellement des programmes financés au titre du budget général; estime que c'est là la seule manière de garantir que ces modifications sont compatibles avec les plafonds actuels des perspectives financières;
7. Considers that the inclusion of these activities in the general budget will require increased appropriations in the corresponding headings; reminds that according to the joint statement on financial programming approved on 20 July 2000, the budgetary authority must have accurate information about the financial consequences of each new proposal presented by the Commission; calls on the Commission to present a financial assessment of the post-ECSC activities being phased in the general budget as they may have an impact on the margin under the ceiling of each heading of the financial perspective; stresses the need for further consultation of the budgetary authority should significant changes be made during the renewal of programmes financed under the general budget; believes this to be the only way to ensure that these changes are compatible with the current ceilings of the financial perspective;
