La loi EEG de 2012 établit également un mécanisme de péréquation de sorte que la charge financière générée par l'obligation d'achat est répartie entre les quatre GRT afin que, au final, chaque GRT couvre les coûts d'une quantité d'électricité correspondant à la part moyenne de l'électricité EEG par rapport à la quantité totale d'électricité livrée aux consommateurs finals dans chaque zone desservie par le GRT en question au cours de l'année civile précédente (article 36 de la loi EEG de 2012).
