Le programme pour l’environnement et l’action pour le climat (LIFE) pour la période 2014-2020 contribue au développement durable et à la réalisation des objectifs et des buts de la stratégie Europe 2020, du septième programme d’action de l’UE pour l’environnement et des initiatives pertinentes de l’UE en matière d’environnement et de climat.
The programme for the environment and climate action (LIFE) for 2014 to 2020 aims to contribute to sustainable development and to the achievement of the objectives and targets of the Europe 2020 strategy, the seventh EU environment action programme and other relevant EU environment and climate change initiatives.

Le sous-programme pour l’environnement couvre les domaines prioritaires Environnement et utilisation rationnelle des ressources, Nature et biodiversité, et Gouvernance et information en matière d’environnement (articles 9 à 12 du règlement LIFE).
The sub-programme for Environment covers the priority areas Environment and Resource Efficiency, Nature and Biodiversity, and Environmental Governance and Information (Articles 9 to 12 of the LIFE Regulation).

L'objectif général de LIFE+ est de contribuer à la mise en œuvre, à l'actualisation et au développement de la politique et du droit communautaires en matière d'environnement, notamment à la prise en compte de l'environnement dans d'autres politiques, et de participer ainsi au développement durable.
2. The general objective of LIFE+ shall be to contribute to the implementation, updating and development of Community environmental policy and legislation, including the integration of the environment into other policies, thereby contributing to sustainable development.

Afin de jouer son rôle d'impulsion en matière d'élaboration et de mise en œuvre de la politique en matière d'environnement, la Commission devrait utiliser les ressources du programme LIFE+ pour réaliser des études et des évaluations, fournir des services en vue de la mise en œuvre et de l'intégration de la politique et du droit en matière d'environnement, organiser des réunions, des séminaires et des ateliers avec des experts et des parties intéressées, mettre en place et exploiter des réseaux et développer et exploiter des systèmes informatiques.
