Le renversement de régimes répressifs en place depuis de longues années en Égypte et en Tunisie, le conflit militaire actuel en Libye, le récent mouvement de contestation violemment réprimé en Syrie, la poursuite de la répression en Biélorussie et les conflits de longue durée qui persistent dans la région, notamment au Moyen‑Orient, justifient que l'UE examine avec un œil neuf les relations qu'elle entretient avec ses voisins.
The overthrow of long-standing repressive regimes in Egypt and Tunisia; the ongoing military conflict in Libya, the recent violent crackdown in Syria, continued repression in Belarus and the lingering protracted conflicts in the region, including in the Middle East, require us to look afresh at the EU’s relationship with our neighbours.
