Notre visite a eu lieu à un moment historique pour la Palestine, après la prestation de serment d’un nouveau gouvernement issu d’élections libres et démocratiques. Ce gouvernement, contesté par les États-Unis et l’Union européenne, alors qu’il bénéficie du soutien de 60 % du corps électoral, n’a pas hésité à partager le pouvoir avec d’autres forces politiques pour former un gouvernement d’union nationale dirigé par le leader incontestable de l’Autorité palestinienne, Abu Mazen, respectant ainsi pleinement les appels du conseil de la Ligue arabe.
Our visit was made at an historic moment in Palestine, following the swearing in of a new government that was the product of free and democratic elections, a government which, even though it had the support of 60% of the electoral body, when it was challenged by the United States and the European Union, did not hesitate to share power with other political forces in order to form a national unity government under the unquestioned leader of the Palestinian Authority, Abu Mazen, in faithful obedience to the calls of the Arab League Council.
