Bien que, dans ses principes, l'OICV-IOSCO se soit concentrée sur les activités des analystes qui travaillent dans des banques d'investissement intégrées ou des sociétés de Bourse ( sell-side equity analysts ), il est expressément indiqué que les analystes sell-side ne sont en aucun cas les seuls à être exposés à ces conflits d'intérêts et que les concepts élaborés dans le cadre de ces travaux pourraient servir dans d'autres domaines[8]. Le rapport d'accompagnement mentionne néanmoins spécifiquement les conflits d'intérêts auxquels sont confrontés les analystes sell-side dans la production de recherche portant sur des actions et par les entreprises qui les emploient[9].
Although the principles focus on the activities of equity sell-side analysts (i.e. those working in integrated investment banks or broker-dealers), it is specifically mentioned that “sell-side analysts are by no means alone in facing such conflicts of interest and concepts developed in this work could be used in other areas”[8]; and the accompanying report does mention specifically “the conflicts of interest faced by sell-side analysts in the production of equity research and by the firms that employ them”.[9]

This communication echoes the work done by the Forum Group on Financial Analysts and the International Organisation of Securities' Commissioners Technical Committee (OICV-IOSCO).

L'OICV-IOSCO s'est concentrée sur les analystes des banques d'investissement intégrées ou des sociétés de Bourse, bien que les effets inhérents aux conflits d'intérêts touchent aussi d'autres individus.
The OICV-IOSCO is focused on analysts working in integrated investment banks or broker-dealers, although the effects of conflicts of interest also affect other individuals.

Les travaux menés par le groupe de réflexion et l'OICV-IOSCO ont laissé quatre questions en suspens.

Alors que la version de mai 2001 de la proposition de la Commission précisait que le prospectus doit avoir "été établi conformément aux normes de publicité édictées par l'OICV", la formulation a ensuite été modifiée comme suit: "Les mesures d'exécution (...) sont fondées sur les normes en matière d'information financière et non financière édictées par les organisations internationales de commissions des valeurs mobilières, et notamment par l'Organisation internationale des commissions de valeurs (OICV – IOSCO)".
Whereas the May 2001 version of the Commission Proposal specified that the prospectus “shall be in accordance with the information requirements set out by the IOSCO”, the wording was then changed to “the rules .shall be based on the standards in the field of financial information set out by international organisations, and in particular by the IOSCO”.
