Compte tenu de la gravité de l’atteinte portée aux droits fondamentaux de Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, le Conseil estime qu’il y a lieu d’inscrire les magistrats responsables de ce verdict sur la liste des personnes et entités faisant l’objet d’une interdiction de voyage et d’un gel des avoirs, qui figure à l’annexe II de la position commune 2006/318/PESC.
In view of the gravity of the violation of the fundamental rights of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, the Council considers it appropriate to include the members of the judiciary responsible for the verdict in the list of persons and entities subject to a travel ban and to an asset freeze set out in Annex II to Common Position 2006/318/CFSP.

Simultanément, l’Union a fait clairement savoir que si, d’ici le sommet, les autorités de Birmanie/Myanmar n’avaient encore rien mis en oeuvre pour libérer Daw Aung San Suu Kyi et pour autoriser une véritable convention nationale ouverte, elle renforcera les sanctions ciblées dont le régime birman fait actuellement l’objet.
At the same time, the EU has made clear that if there has been no movement by the authorities in Burma/Myanmar by the time of the summit, to release Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and to allow a genuine and open National Convention, the EU will strengthen the existing targeted sanctions against the Burmese regime.
