L'Autorité de surveillance AELE a adressé au gouvernement islandais, en mai 2010, une lettre de mise en demeure, première étape d'une procédure d'infraction à l'encontre de l'Islande, en faisant valoir qu'en n'accordant pas aux déposants des succursales néerlandaises et britanniques d'Icesave la garantie minimale prévue, l'Islande avait violé la directive relative aux systèmes de garantie des dépôts.
The EFTA Surveillance Authority (ESA) send a letter of formal notice to the Iceland government in May 2010, hereby taking the first step in an infringement procedure against Iceland arguing that Iceland acted in breach of the Deposit Guarantee Scheme Directive by leaving the depositors in Icesave's Dutch and UK branches without the minimum guarantee.
