But if we respond in a positive way to this challenge the prize is enormous : the addition to a unifying Europe of an area of enormous historical and cultural importance to us all, the creation of a zone of stability, rather than the risk of disorder and mass immigration, and ultimately the strengthening of the whole European economy, with new opportunities for trade and investment in both directions.
