In particular, the European Food Safety Authority should be consulted on the efficacy and the safety of such feed when, on the basis of available scientific and technological information, there are reasons to believe that the use of the feed in question may not meet the particular intended nutritional purpose or may have adverse effects on animal health, human health, the environment or animal welfare.

4. Si, sur la base des informations scientifiques et technologiques disponibles, la Commission a des raisons de croire que l’utilisation de l’aliment pour animaux en question pourrait ne pas répondre à l’objectif nutritionnel particulier auquel il est destiné ou pourrait avoir des effets négatifs sur la santé animale, la santé humaine, l’environnement ou le bien-être des animaux, elle demande, dans un délai de trois mois à compter de la réception d’une demande recevable, l’avis de l’Autorité européenne de sécurité des aliments (ci-après dénommée «l’Autorité»).
4. If, on the basis of available scientific and technological information, the Commission, has reason to believe that the use of the specific feed may not fulfil the particular intended nutritional purpose or may have adverse effects on animal health, human health, the environment or animal welfare, the Commission shall, within three months of receipt of a valid application, seek an opinion from the European Food Safety Authority (hereinafter referred to as ‘the Authority’).
