An amount of 99.5 million marks, of which 42.9 million benefited to "Sophia Jacoba GmbH" and 56.6 million to "Preussag Anthrazit GmbH".

In its decision of 10 June 1998 (IP/98/521) concerning financial aid granted by Germany to the coal industry in 1997, the Commission deferred its decision, on the one hand, on an amount of operating aid under Article 3 of decision 3632/93/ECSC totalling 65 million marks for "Preussag Anthrazit GmbH" and, on the other hand, on an amount of aid for a reduction in activity under Article 4 of decision 3632/93/ECSC totalling 12 million marks for "Sophia Jacoba GmbH", amounting to an overall total of 77 million marks.
