(6) En vertu de la décision n° 1600/2002/CE du Parlement européen et du Conseil du 22 juillet 2002 établissant le sixième programme d'action communautaire pour l'environnement , une stratégie thématique pour la protection et la conservation du milieu marin devait être adoptée dans un délai de trois ans à compter de l'adoption dudit programme, afin de promouvoir comme objectifs généraux l'utilisation durable des mers et la conservation des écosystèmes marins.
(6 ) In line with Decision No 1600/2002/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 July 2002 laying down the Sixth Community Environment Action Programme , a thematic strategy for the protection and conservation of the marine environment was to be developed, within three years of the adoption of that Programme, with the overall aims of promoting sustainable use of the seas and conserving marine ecosystems.

Je ne répéterai pas tout, mais bravo! Je voudrais remercier M. Trakatellis pour son excellent rapport et je remercie également le commissaire d’avoir été si honnête avec nous ce matin en déclarant que ce programme d’action communautaire sur la santé devait déjà être revu pour pouvoir être efficace, afin que nous puissions donner la priorité à certains domaines à cause de - je cite - «l’erreur de comptabilité».
I should like to thank Mr Trakatellis for an excellent report and I also thank the Commissioner for being so honest with us here this morning and stating that this Community action plan on health already needs to be reviewed if it is to be effective, so that we can prioritise areas, because of – and I use his words – ‘the accounting muddle’. All I can say about that is that it is an embarrassment!
