Les Arméniens, de leur côté, parlent une langue indo-européenne, possèdent une écriture datant du Vème siècle, ont leur propre église (l'Eglise arménienne grégorienne du nom de Grégoire dit "L'Illuminateur", qui a évangélisé le pays) et dont le catholicossat se trouve à Etchmiadzine.
