A l'issue du débat, la Présidence a conclu que : - une majorité prépondérante des délégations était favorable à la création de la SE afin d'assurer la liberté d'établissement des entreprises dans le marché intérieur, compte tenu des obstacles encore existant à cet effet, notamment en ce qui concerne le transfert de siège et les fusions internationales ; - la Présidence procédera, éventuellement également par des contacts bilatéraux avec les délégations ayant exprimé des réserves majeures, à rechercher des solutions appropriées, tant sur le problème de la participation des travailleurs que sur les autres questions revêtant une importance particulière pour l'une ou l'autre délégation ; - à la lumière de ces contacts et réflexions, la Présidence s'efforcera d'élaborer une proposition globale de compromis, susceptible d'être présentée à la session du Conseil du mois de juin.
At the end of the discussions the Presidency concluded that: - a significant majority of delegations were in favour of setting up the SE in order to ensure freedom of establishment for businesses in the Internal Market, taking into account the obstacles that still existed in this area, particularly in the transfer of registered office and international mergers; - the Presidency will continue to seek appropriate solutions, perhaps through bilateral talks with the delegations that have expressed major reservations, on the question of worker participation and other issues that are of special importance to one or other of the delegations; - in the light of these talks and further consideration the Presidency will endeavour to draw up an overall compromise solution that might be submitted to the Council meeting in June.
