Le règlement (CE) n° 1407/2002 concernant les aides d'État à l'industrie houillère a donc été adopté sur la base de l'article 87, paragraphe 3, point e), et de l'article 89 du traité CE dans le but de maintenir ce secteur de l'industrie par l'octroi d'aides d'État visant à soutenir la restructuration de l'industrie houillère et à aider cette dernière à faire face aux importantes diminutions de leurs activités.
Regulation (EC) No 1407/2002 on State aid to the coal industry was therefore adopted on the basis of Articles 87(3)(e) and 89 of the EC Treaty with the objective of maintaining this industry sector by providing for State subsidies to support the restructuring of the coal industry and help the latter to face the consequences of major cutbacks in its activity.
