Venant moi-même des Maritimes, je trouve que vous avez très clairement dépeint l'aspect historique que vous nous avez présenté aujourd'hui avec tant d'à propos afin d'expliquer pourquoi les Pères de la Confédération ont consacré tant de temps à l'institution du Sénat et ont décidé d'en baser la représentation non sur la population, mais sur la région. C'est parce que nous, citoyens des Maritimes, aurions autrement été écrasés sous le nombre des habitants du reste du Canada.
As a Maritimer, I think you clarified very well the historical aspect, which you so rightly gave to us today, as to why so much time in the discussions prior to Confederation was spent on the institution of the Senate and that it should not be based on population but rather by region for the very reason that those of us in the Maritimes would be overwhelmed by the numbers from the rest of Canada.
