Second assessment of progress made in implementing the Broad Economic Policy Guidelinesproviding input for the 2005 Spring Report | This Communication reviews progress made in implementing the EU’s medium-term economic policy strategy as set out in the 2003-05 Broad Economic Policy Guidelines (BEPGs).[1] Having been adopted in 2003 and updated in 2004[2] to take account of the Union’s enlargement, the guidelines focus on the contribution that economic policies can make to the Lisbon strategy, both through the pursuit of sound macro-economic policies and vigorous economic reform.

La Commission vient d'ailleurs seulement de présenter une communication au Conseil et au Parlement européen sur les orientations pour les actions de l'union dans le domaine de la recherche (2002-2006).
The Council cannot, at present, anticipate what actions will be taken in future concerning the future framework programme and its contents; it was only very recently that the Commission submitted its communication to the Council and Parliament on the guidelines for the Union's actions in the field of research for 2000-2006.
