INVITENT les Etats membres et la Commission à mettre en oeuvre, au niveau communautaire, les actions suivantes qui visent à atteindre les objectifs de l'Année européenne en appuyant et complétant les actions menées au niveau national, régional et local, notamment : a) l'organisation de conférences d'ouverture et de clôture de l'Année européenne; b) l'organisation d'une série de séminaires sur des aspects spécifiques de la lutte contre le racisme, la xénophobie et l'antisémitisme; c) la production et la traduction de rapports présentant les résultats de ces séminaires et leur diffusion auprès des intéressés; d) la promotion de campagnes d'information, notamment sur la contribution positive que les immigrants et les descendants d'immigrés apportent à la société; e) l'échange d'informations et d'expériences visant à faciliter les transferts de bonnes pratiques; f) la publication, aux niveaux national et communautaire, d'informations relatives à l'Année européenne et aux manifestations organisées à cette occasion; g) la conception et la promotion d'un logo et d'un slogan communs pour l'Année européenne, et leur utilisation dans la publicité faite à toutes les manifestations liées à l'Année européenne.
2. CALL ON the Member States and the Commission to implement, at Community level, the following measures, which are designed to meet the objectives of the European Year by supporting and complementing the measures implemented at national, regional and local level, including: (a) the organizing of conferences to open and close the European Year; (b) the organizing of a series of seminars on specific aspects of the fight against racism, xenophobia and anti-semitism; (c) the preparation and translation of reports setting out the results of these seminars and their circulation to those concerned; (d) the promotion of information campaigns, notably on the positive contribution to society of immigrants and their descendants; (e) the exchange of information and experience between competent bodies to promote the identification and transfer of good practice; (f) the publication of information at national and Community level on the European Year and the events organized during it; (g) the design and promotion of a common logo and slogan for the European Year and their use in publicity for all the events connected with the Year.

De telles opérations prennent leur place, a rappelé Mr Cheysson, parmi les initiatives prises par la Communauté Européenne pour appuyer le processus de paix et d'entente entre les pays d'Amérique Centrale suivant les propositions présentées par le Président Arias, Prix Nobel de la Paix et affirmées dans le Plan d'Esquipulas II. Such operations, Mr Cheysson pointed out, are part of the European Community's drive to back up the process of peace and understanding in the countries of Central America in line with the proposals of Nobel Peace Prize- winner President Arias, which had been confirmed in the Esquipulas II plan.
