Definition: States of subjective distress and emotional disturbance, usually interfering with social functioning and performance, arising in the period of adaptation to a significant life change or a stressful life event. The stressor may have affected the integrity of an individual's social network (bereavement, separation experiences) or the wider system of social supports and values (migration, refugee status), or represented a major developmental transition or crisis (going to school, becoming a parent, failure to attain a cherished personal goal, retirement). Individual predisposition or vulnerability plays an important role in the risk of occurrence and the shaping of the manifestations of adjustment disorders, but it is nevertheless assumed that the condition would not have arisen without the stressor. The manifestations vary and include depressed mood, anxiety or worry (or mixture of these), a feeling of inability to cope, plan ahead, or continue in the present situation, as well as some degree of disability in 9the performance of daily routine. Conduct disorders may be an associated feature, particularly in adolescents. Depuis 2001, d’importants projets législatifs ont été adoptés et sont actuellement mis en pratique : ouverture à la concurrence du fret ferroviaire ; amélioration des conditions sociales dans le secteur du transport routier ; définition de 30 projets prioritaires RTE ; création du ciel unique européen ; consolidation des droits des passagers du transport aérien ; nouvelle directive sur le péage routier introduisant une tarification en fonction de la distance dont les recettes peuvent, dans certains cas, être consacrées au financement d’infrastructures ; promotion du transport intermodal avec le programme Marco Polo ; et renforcement du cadre juridique en matière de sécurité maritime.
Since 2001, major legislative proposals were approved and are being put into practice such as the opening-up of rail freight transport to competition, the upgraded social conditions of road transport, the definition of 30 TEN priority projects, the creation of the European Single Sky, the strengthening of aviation passenger rights, the new road charging directive whose distance-based user charges can be channelled to the financing of infrastructure in some cases, the promotion of intermodal transport with the Marco Polo programme and the reinforcement of the legal framework in maritime safety.
