Le traité d'Amsterdam stipule clairement que la base juridique doit être l'article 152 si la santé publique est concernée et je dois dire à la commission juridique de notre propre Assemblée que cela ne suffit tout simplement pas d'examiner la proposition de la Commission et de dire qu'elle ne mentionne pas la santé et la protection des consommateurs et qu'il n'est donc pas question de santé et de protection des consommateurs.
The Treaty of Amsterdam states quite clearly that, where people’s health is concerned, Article 152 is the correct legal base, and may I say to our own Committee on Legal Affairs and the Internal Market that it is simply not good enough to look at the Commission’s proposal and say, there is nothing in it about health and consumer protection, so it has nothing to do with health and consumer protection.
