Encouragés par la récente décision des ministres de l'économie de l'ASEM de redynamiser le « TFAP » (« Trade Facilitation Action Plan- en anglais- Plan de Facilitation du Commerce -en français) et d'adopter des mesures d'étalonnage des progrès dans le cadre de l'IPAP (« Investment Promotion Action Plan »- en anglais- Plan de Promotion des Investissements- en français), nous devons poursuivre et dynamiser nos travaux sur la facilitation et la promotion des échanges et des flux d'investissements entre nos deux régions et contribuer à réduire les obstacles grâce aux initiatives « TFAP » et « IPAP ».
Based on the recent encouragement of ASEM Economic Ministers who upgraded TFAP and endorsed benchmarks under IPAP, we must also pursue and dynamise our work on facilitating and promoting trade and investment flows between our two regions and overcoming obstacles through the TFAP and IPAP initiatives.

Si les Anglais, dont nous avons hérité notre système de nomination à la magistrature, l'ont abandonné précisément parce qu'ils se posaient des questions au sujet de la perception du public, à cause des plaintes, même avec ce système anglais modernisé, que suscitait l'ancien système de nomination, parce qu'il n'était pas toujours équitable, alors je dirais qu'au minimum, le Canada devrait suivre les Anglais et les provinces, et au moins adopter une loi qui précise à la fois le rôle et les pouvoirs des comités consultatifs ainsi que leur rôle vis-à-vis des nominations effectuées par le gouvernement.
The point I'm making is that if the British, from whom we've inherited our set of judicial appointments, have gone way beyond this precisely because they're concerned about the public perception, because of complaints, even under the enlightened British system, that fairness did not result from the previous system of appointment, then I think, at a minimum, we in Canada should follow the British and the provinces, at least to the extent of having legislation that spells out both the role and the powers of the advisory committees and their relationship with the actual appointments made by the government.
