La Commission présente 4 options qui peuvent se résumer comme suit: le maintien du status-quo, moyennant certaines adaptations; l'introduction d'un accord global-cadre, qui serait épaulé d'accords bilatéraux; l'éclatement de la Convention de Lomé en accords régionaux; enfin, un accord spécifique avec les pays les moins avancés (PMA) de la zone ACP et éventuellement ouvert à d'autres PMA.
The Commission puts forward four options which can be summarized as follows: the maintenance of the status quo, with certain adjustments; the introduction of an overall framework agreement backed by bilateral agreements, the splitting-up of the Lomé Convention into regional agreements; finally, a specific agreement with the least developed countries (LDCs) in the ACP area which would possibly be open to other LDCs.
