(20) Tout arôme ou matériau de base relevant du règlement (CE) n° 1829/2003 du Parlement européen et du Conseil du 22 septembre 2003 concernant les denrées alimentaires et les aliments pour animaux génétiquement modifiés doit être soumis à la procédure d'autorisation prévue dans ledit règlement pour ce qui est de l'évaluation de sécurité de la modification génétique, alors que l'autorisation finale de l'arôme ou du matériau de base doit être accordée conformément au présent règlement.
(20) A flavouring or a source material which falls under the scope of Regulation (EC) No 1829/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 September 2003 on genetically modified food and feed should be subject to the authorisation procedure under that Regulation with regard to the safety assessment of the genetic modification, while the final authorisation of the flavouring or source material should be granted under this Regulation.
