Parmi les nombreuses condamnations qu’elles ont provoquées, j’ai été particulièrement ravie de noter celle du représentant de l’Autorité palestinienne, le négociateur en chef palestinien, M. Saeb Erekat, qui a fait preuve d’une grande diplomatie en rappelant que l’OLP et l’Autorité palestinienne avaient reconnu l’État d’Israël, avec lequel elles étaient engagées dans un processus de paix.

Je suis en effet stupéfait que près de 320 députés aient voté contre l'amendement 6 qui proposait ce qui paraît pourtant une évidence, c'est-à-dire que le soutien que nous apportons à l'Autorité palestinienne et à ses institutions doit aller de pair avec une condamnation ferme de la violence par cette même Autorité et la mise en œuvre de mesures efficaces pour mettre un terme aux attentats terroristes.
I am stunned that nearly 320 Members voted against Amendment No 6 which proposed something that seems perfectly obvious, in other words, that the support we are giving to the Palestinian Authority and its institutions must be coupled with a firm condemnation of the violence inflicted by the same Authority and the implementation of effective measures that will put an end to the terrorist attacks.
