Je tiens à souligner la nécessité de disposer de règles harmonisées concernant l’indication de l’origine des produits textiles importés de pays non membres de l’Union et de critères précis concernant l’utilisation d’un marquage d’origine «fabriqué en» pour les produits fabriqués dans l’Union européenne, ainsi que l’importance de l’étiquetage social, de manière à informer les consommateurs au sujet du respect des normes en matière de santé et de sécurité et des droits de l’homme.
I would stress the need for harmonised rules on the indication of the origin of textile products imported from non-EU countries and precise criteria for the use of a ‘made in’ origin marking for products manufactured in the Union, as well as social labelling to keep consumers informed about respect for health and safety standards and human rights.

La Commission a en consequence pu exprimer son interet pour la participation directe a cinq projets : - 2 - - EU 7 EUROTRAC concernant les instruments permettant de modeliser et d'observer la pollution atmospherique - EU 8 COSINE concernant l'etablissement d'un reseau de communication pour la recherche en Europe - EU 37 EUROMAR concernant l'application de nouvelles technologies a l'etude d'ecosystemes marins - EU 45 PROMETHEUS concernant l'utilisation des technologies de l'information pour la securite des vehicules automobiles - EU 95 HDTV concernant les systemes de television a haute definition fondes sur des standards europeens. Tous ces projets ont une dimension continentale et concordent avec des initiatives communautaires existants, par example promotion et adoption de normes d'origine europeenne.
This has enabled the Commission to express an interest in participating in various forms in 5 projects: - 2 - - EU 7 EUROTRAC concerning tools for modelling and observing atmospheric pollution - EU 8 COSINE concerning the establishment of a communication network for research in Europe - EU 37 EUROMAR concerning the application of new technologies to the study of marine ecosystems - EU 45 PROMETHEUS concerning the use of information technology in road safety - EU 95 HDTV concerning high definition TV systems based on European standards These projects all have a continental dimension and tie in with existing Community initiatives, e.g. promotion and adoption of standards which have been developed in Europe.
